In my last post, I showed you guys the fabric and style that I picked out for my new window treatments, and how I made my decision. Now I’m excited to show you how they turned out! I’ve been patiently (or not so patiently) waiting ever since I placed the order, and the day my boxes arrived, I basically pounced on them. Seriously, I was so ready to take down our old, ugly blinds, and put up our pretty new tailored Roman shades! And they are oh, so pretty. Scroll down and you’ll see.
First off, the bedroom. Our “before” blinds were all bent and broken, and would never lift up evenly. They were such a pain—every time I tried to lift them, I’d get irritated at how crooked they were…so I basically stopped messing with them and left the blinds all the way down in our bedroom, all the time. Lame, I know.
So like I said, I was very ready to get rid of the old blinds and put up our new shades! I carefully followed the instructions to mount them, and it was really easy! Seriously, it was up in about five minutes. I had been a little bit worried about an inside mount (what if my measurements were off and it didn’t fit?), but everything turned out perfectly. I love the simple geometric pattern on the shade, and the blue stitches work perfectly with our bed frame. But the best part is how easy it is to raise and lower the shade now—no more bent and crooked blinds!
The next room we updated was the kitchen. This shade was just as easy to put up. The difference in the “before” and “after” photos may not look as dramatic, but in person it really does look way better. The fabric we picked has a subtle tone-on-tone texture that looks really luxe, and it just feels so much more grown-up than our old blinds did.
It’s funny, sometimes we get so used to “the way things are” that we don’t realize we can actually do something about all those little irritations. That floorboard that sticks up and is a tripping hazard, that squeaky door, or those crooked blinds that are always such a hassle to use…we don’t have to just “deal with them” forever. Our new shades have made such a difference, both physically (they look so much better!) and mentally (I don’t get irritated every time I open the window now). Life is too short for broken blinds, you know?
