Window treatment makeovers for the bedroom and kitchen!

I’m currently renting the house I live in, so I’ve been hesitant to invest a lot in window coverings so far. But I’ve always been an advocate of making your house feel like your home, regardless of whether you’re a renter or a homeowner. After all, we spend so much time in our house, it’s worth making it a place that we enjoy. Ben and I have already made a lot of changes to our place that have made it feel more like “us”—installing our own light fixtures, buying furniture we love, and hanging lots of art on the walls. But until now, we left the windows just as they were when we first moved in…with cheap, ugly rental blinds that we would have never picked out ourselves. Well, we finally decided it was time for an upgrade!

The first thing we did was decide on the type of window covering we wanted. The two windows we decided to focus on are in our kitchen and our bedroom. We wanted the window treatments to look simple and clean, so we decided on tailored Roman shades. The next step was figuring out just what fabrics to choose!

Bali Blinds has a ton of beautiful options, from patterns to solids, colorful fabrics to neutrals. I love the convenience of shopping online, but it’s tough to make a decision without seeing something in person…especially for something as important as window coverings. Luckily, I was able to get swatches delivered right to my door…for free! It was really helpful to see our top contenders in person and take them into the rooms they might be in. It made our decision a lot easier.

In the end, we decided on Bavaria Romantic for our bedroom. It’s an embroidered graphic pattern, in a deep blue that will go well with our bed. I can’t wait to see it in the room!

And for the kitchen, we decided to keep it simple. Getting a busy pattern didn’t seem quite right for this room, so we decided on Kuna Billowy. The raised circles give it some visual interest and texture, but it’s subtle enough to blend in with all the different colors we already have going on in the kitchen.

I am seriously SO excited to get our new shades up. I already know they’re going to make such a difference. I’ll be sure to share the “after” photos with you all as soon as they are installed!
